Hackland Aloe Garden is situated on a cane farm in Bishopstowe, Pietermaritzburg, overlooking Ashburton towards Table Mountain.

Hackland Aloe Garden was established in 2012 and consists of beautiful indigenous aloes, as well as some Hybrid Sunbird Aloe varieties.

There are also lots of interesting things to see in the garden. One being an old original Voortrekker wagon!

This is truly a paradise for artists and photographers who would like to capture the stunning plants and surroundings.

Our picnic spots

Our garden is open for the public, by appointment only.

Entrance fee is R30 per person, no charge for children under 12 years.

You are welcome to bring a picnic basket and spend a relaxing day in the garden with friends and family. We also have picnic baskets available on order, and braai facilities!

Our aloes

The vast majority of aloes flower in winter, while some groups, like the grass aloes for instance, usually flower in spring or summer.
